NYE With Jimmy Leahey

A New Years Eve Like no other. $20/cover gets you in and a glass of champagne! Limited A-La-cart menu availble as well as a 3 course prix fixed menu for $59. Jimmy Leahey and the Grey Man group with special guest ERIC TROYER of Electric Light Orchestra! This is the ultimate way to end 2025 and usher in 2026. Music from 8pm-12midnight.

Jimmy Leahy started playing guitar at age 7, learning from his dad, Harry... a well-known jazz player and a prolific teacher in New Jersey. Jimmy’s toured and recorded with John Waite, Patty Smyth, Martha Davis, Gloria Gaynor, Alison Krauss and has just retired from playing with Dennis DeYoung, from Styx

One of the most optimistic and genuine guys you’ll meet, Jimmy talks about the incredible positive influence his dad had on him, and also the pressure he often felt being “Harry’s son”... a great story about the best gig he had, playing as part of the house band for Bon Jovi’s birthday party - playing alongside Roger Waters, Billy Joel, and Paul McCartney…

joe cirotti trio

Joe Cirotti Trio, a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge, fuses their multi-instrumentalist upbringings with a passion for the roots of American folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass. Their bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for roots music and whiskey.

Formed in 2015, the current line-up of Joe Cirotti: guitar, Pete Lister: upright bass, and Timmy Coyle: mandolin and guitar, continues to craft a sound steeped in tradition yet infused with modern twists.

The group also occasionally plays as a 4/5-piece ensemble, adding banjo, fiddle, dobro, percussion, or even more mandolin, often joined by founding member Mike Alexander.

Joe Cirotti Trio has become a fixture at premier area venues across the NWNJ area, and is booking into the summer and fall across a wider area. Their debut release, “Joe Cirotti Trio”, launched on CD and Vinyl in December 2023, and streaming on all major platforms.

They find common musical ground in influences like Doc Watson, Tony Rice, and Garcia/Grisman, but also as diverse as Django Reinhardt, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen. This stirs up a one-of-a-kind blend of Americana, bluegrass, alt-country, and gypsy jazz, and acoustic pop.

Bobby Syvarth Band w Tim Carbone

Bobby Syvarth Band w Tim Carbone

It’s the fall of 2007 and Bobby Syvarth is in a recording studio at the foot of Laurel Canyon. He’s working with producer Bruce Witkin on his next record, “Hellos And Goodbyes”,  for Bruce’s fledgling record label, Unison Music; the label he started with the help of his old bandmate and music aficionado Johnny Depp. Looking back in time through his retrospectascope, he spies a 15 year old Bobby trying to learn how to strum a guitar and sing at the same time. Even though California was always his North Star, he never imagined a kid from Jefferson, NJ could navigate his way to L.A. to be surrounded by the ghosts and spirits of Laurel Canyon. But here he was, writing and recording songs — walking the same streets as his songwriting heroes of decades past.

Fast forward 15 years and to the casual observer, success still seems elusive. But success isn’t always about those who burn brightest. One can dance around the cracks without falling through them and the act of creation, bringing a fully formed song into existence, is itself a success.

And now comes Silver Lake Boulevard, the long anticipated follow up to Hellos And Goodbyes. By the time Bobby got to town, Silver Lake Blvd. was the new Sunset Blvd. and he felt right at home chilling with the rovers, wanderers and artists who were dreaming their own dreams there. L.A.(and Silver Lake Blvd. itself) inhabit most of the songs on this new record. And as if to mirror the Wrecking Crew, the vaunted group of L.A. studio musicians that were responsible for the vast majority of the hit records pouring out of southern California in the 1960’s, Bobby used his own Wrecking Crew. Bill Goodwin (himself an actual member of the original Wrecking Crew) and Tony Marino, both veterans of the Phil Woods Quartet, are the rhythm section for two stand out tracks on the record, including California, the first single and video from the record. California, was filmed by Academy Award winning cinematographer Jessica Young and directed by Tim Carbone from the band Railroad Earth, Bobby’s longtime collaborator who also produced the record.

And so the dance around the cracks of life continues and Bobby looks good doing it. Falling through those cracks may or may not be in his future but the songs keep coming. Birds fly, fish swim — songwriters write songs and songwriting is Bobby in his natural state.

Charlie Don't Surf
Dec
13

Charlie Don't Surf

Charlie Don’t Surf was created by Jeff and Pete, long time partners in Mobius Strip.  Wanting to create funky, earthy jam music they searched for a drummer and the right one found them.  Or more appropriately, they found each other.

Andrew, delivering a keg to their studio, admired the vintage “half stacks” and conversation led to a jam, the musical connection immediate.  Looking for the right bass player to bring it home found Christian, a jazzy, funky player, the unit complete.

Charlie Don’t Surf covers funky songs and if a choice is not funky the band funks it up. Charlie “does the song” but “does it our way.” Jamming, flipping the beat around, “pushing the one” is what the band is about.

All write songs but Charlie Don’t Surf is an “original cover band” that covers the song but makes it their own, creatively satisfying for them and their audience.

The Spare Waltz

🍁 The Spare Waltz — Life Is a Carnival

Every Thanksgiving, music lovers return to The Last Waltz — The Band’s legendary farewell concert filmed by Martin Scorsese in 1976. More than just a performance, it was a homecoming — a gathering of family, friends, and heroes giving thanks through song. It’s become a Thanksgiving ritual because it captures something timeless: gratitude, connection, and the joy of creating together.

Six years ago, that same spirit took hold in New Jersey. A group of friends and fellow musicians — many of whom gathered monthly at Pizza Jam, hosted by Captain Tom Ruegg and, by extension, The Spare Tire Band — decided to make their own version of that legendary night. What began as the band’s monthly rehearsal had quietly evolved into a community: part jam session, part family reunion.

It was Rick Krueger, guitarist and vocalist from The Spare Tire Band, who suggested the band tackle The Last Waltz and create their own version — A Spare Waltz. And so, The Spare Waltz was born in Captain’s living room in 2018.

Since that night, the tradition has grown in both scale and spirit. The music got louder, the friendships deeper, and the family wider. The Spare Waltz has become more than a concert — it’s a living, breathing celebration of the musicians and friends who keep New Jersey’s roots music scene alive. Around here, life is a carnival, and everyone’s welcome under the tent.

Now in its sixth iteration, The Spare Waltz comes to The Pattenburg House, where we’ll stretch the setlist, welcome back familiar faces, and invite a few new friends to keep the tradition rolling.

Come hungry for music and dinner — a Thanksgiving buffet is included with every ticket.

joe cirotti trio
